GIG UPDATES:
SANDY CASH and ME at the COFFEE GALLERY MAY 14
BRAD COLERICK and ME at CROWN BOOKS MAY 10
On Thursday, May 14th at 8pm, at Altadena’s famous Coffee Gallery Backstage, I’m getting to share a bill with a very unique artist. Sandy Cash is an American-born singer and songwriter who decided to pick up stakes and move to Israel, and establish a beachhead for folksinging in that turbulent part of the world (Here is Sandy being interviewed on Israeli TV). She has become a darling of the “anglo” music scene there, and is truly an international artist in every sense of that term. Her songs are funny and smart, and surprising. I think it will be a good match. I know it’s on a weeknight, but I’m hoping you’ll all avail yourself of a chance to come see this unique performer, and you’ll get to see me in the bargain. What a deal! Seating is limited; please reserve by calling (626)-798-6236 with your name and number.
A few days before that, on Mothers’ Day, Sunday, May 10th, at 4pm, I’ll be doing Sunday at the Bookstore a late-afternoon show in Woodland Hills with a good friend and one of my favorite songwriters, Brad Colerick. Brad created and produces Wine and Song, one of the longest-running songwriter showcase nights in the Southland, and he shares a similar background with me in the music biz. For years, I worked at a place called Killer Music, writing music for commercials, and composing music packages for radio and television stations all over the world. While I was doing that, Brad was working with a similar company called Music Animals, and then started his own company. The changing business coupled with the love of singing and playing our songs caused us to stray from the daily commercial grind, and that’s the road on which we re-encountered each other some years ago. He’s also a hell of a nice guy. The Bookstore show is produced and hosted by Ron Sarfaty, a fixture of the LA songwriter scene, who has provided many of the performance videos on my website.
And, on Tuesday May 19th at 7:30 I’ll also be appearing with a bunch of other great folks, including Jodi Siegel and Alfred Johnson at Steven McClintock’s “The Songwriter” series at The Pilsner Room in Irvine.I’m debating whether I should do a small crowd funding (Kickstarter, etc.) to help fund my new CD. I’m guessing those who are still reading this far down would be my target audience. Would you reply to this email, or send me a message at garystockdale@gmail.com if this is something that you might be willing to participate in? There would be some prizes and swag for those who participate.
