Happy New Year 2023

Happy New Year 2023

HAPPY NEW YEAR from GARY & DANELLE STOCKDALE
Along with SAVANNAH STOCKDALE and FIONA STOCKDALE

Since the pandemic started in March of 2020, Dani and I have been doing a streaming show every week on Tuesdays at 5:30 (PT), called Safe @Home. It was the first time Dani had been an active part of a show I’m doing, and over these nearly three years, we’ve found that the inspiring things Dani says, along with her humor and kindness, have been just as – if not more – popular than my singing.

Last November I had my 70th Birthday party, and we surprised all our guests by renewing our wedding vows after 29 years together. We even surprised our daughters. The only one who knew ahead of time was my Mother-In-Law, Bette Hoffman.

So as we head into a new year, I wanted to express my gratitude to all of you who have come to watch our online shows, those who have come to the many live shows I’ve done with The Tribe, my own solo performances, and, basically, to all who have reached out in some way to us this year. Whether you’re an old friend or a new acquaintance, we appreciate you and we are glad you are in our lives.

My daughter Fiona is living in Washington State, and working for a very cool hotel chain called McMenamins, and my daughter Savannah is a touring and recording Electronic Dance Music artist, who performs under the name HVDES.

For all of us, life can sometimes be a challenge, but we are fortunate that, at the same time, life is so often filled with joy, beauty, music, art, service, and the love of friends and family. George Bailey ain’t got nothin’ on us.

We love you,

CARE CONCERT – One-Hit Wonders Palace Theatre This Saturday

CARE CONCERT – One-Hit Wonders Palace Theatre This Saturday

CARE CONCERT – ONE-HIT WONDERS
PALACE THEATRE THIS SATURDAY

This Saturday, April 23rd, at 7:00PM, The Tribe Band, along with the Get Together Foundation presents THE CARE CONCERT, at the historic Palace Theatre in downtown LA, benefitting Los Angeles’ homeless and underprivileged children. We will be doing our ONE-HIT WONDERS show, featuring popular songs from across the decades from artists who had their one bright, shining moment in the sun, and FEATURING many of the ORIGINAL ARTISTS responsible for these hits: Elliot Lurie of Looking Glass singing “Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl),” Billy Vera performing “At This Moment,” Walter Egan with his hit “Magnet and Steel,” and the original members of The Soul Survivors with “Expressway To Your Heart.”

I’m music-directing the show, as well as singing a few great songs. Filling out our cast of great performers are TV’s Rob Morrow, Ken Stacey, Terrell Edwards, Chris Paul Overall, John Pratt, Cara Lee, and many more. The opening act is none other than ‘60s favorite, and our good friends, The Strawberry Alarm Clock.

For some years I’ve been a part of The Tribe, a colorful band of Los Angeles singers and musicians. The Get Together Foundation is the inspirational core of this collective, dedicating itself to making a difference in our community by bettering the lives of children and families living in our local low-income and underrepresented neighborhoods.

100% of the proceeds from this concert go to the people being served.

Tickets are available here:
The Palace Theatre is at 630 Broadway, Los Angeles 90014. It’s a great part of LA history.

Hope to see you there for this great evening of fun and giving. Please come up and say hi after the show!

Much love,

A couple of things: Ed Brand informed me that they are going to accept WALK-UPS, and cash for Saturday’s Live at the A-Frame show so if you decide last-minute to come, or don’t want to use PayPal, you can still come. Also, I may have posted a wrong URL for the advance tickets, so I will post the right one below.

Or for those who prefer the traditional spelling:

Remember, this is with my band Scott Breadman and Carl Sealove, and I will have a GUEST ARTIST sitting in with us for a couple of songs. As I mentioned before, it’s an OUTDOOR EVENT, vaccinated people only, and the seating will be comfortably distanced.

I’m looking forward to my big show at Coddy Nuckols’ beautiful Live at the A-Frame concert series. My show is opening the season, and it’s going to be very cool, with lots of new songs, and I’ll be performing with my great musician friends, Scott Breadman and Carl Sealove. It’s an OUTDOOR EVENT, and proof of vaccination will be required so everyone can feel safe, and the seating will be comfortably distanced.

Advanced reservations only, and the tickets are $20. Just click on this link:
GARY STOCKDALE, LIVE AT THE A-FRAME

Tickets sales are zipping along, so get yours now! Live music is BACK! There will be tasty food there (feel free to bring a dish or a dessert yourself), beverages, AND there will be a song circle afterwards, so bring your guitar!

Scotty and Carl both played at the last concert I did before the pandemic hit, and it was a great success. It was a bummer to have to wait over a year-and-a-half to do it again – but thanks to everyone who stepped up and got vaccinated, some of us can return to a semblance of normal life. Broadway is just starting to re-open, and concert halls and stages are turning their lights on again. Keep encouraging your friends and loved ones to get vaccinated, and we’ll see you Saturday, September 25!

Big thanks to Ed Brand and Lauri Reimer for helping to get the word out.
AND the night after that, Sunday night, September 26th, I will be opening for the jazz artist Kaylene Peoples, with her Romantic Bossa Nova show at Feinstein’s at Vitello’s. She is a soulful singer, and she’ll be backed up by the great Bunny Brunel, who played bass with Chick Corea, and Steve Ferrone, from the late Tom Petty’s band and many others.

Showtime is 8pm, and tickets can be had HERE. If you can’t make it to the 25th concert, come see me there.

As always, my partner-in-crime and co-host Danelle Stockdale and I will be bringing you our Safe @Home show this and every Tuesday at 5:30pm (Pacific Time) on my Facebook music page. This page is a public page – you don’t need to be a member of Facebook to watch (only to comment). Go to https://facebook.com/garystockdalemusic

Hope to see you at the A-Frame, Saturday, September 25 at 5:30 (show starts at 6pm)!

Much love,

FIRST GARY STOCKDALE CONCERT since FEBRUARY 2020! (Actually, TWO firsts!)

(Actually, TWO firsts!)

While we here in America are hardly out of the COVID woods yet, in-person events are coming back for the vaccinated and responsible. In September, I’m doing a full evening show for Live at the A-Frame, hosted by Coddy Nuckols. It’s all outdoors overlooking beautiful Kagel Canyon, on Saturday night, September 25 at 5:30pm (doors).

I’ve played his well-attended concert series a few times before, but inside the house. Evidently he’s turned the outside patio into a cool performance space, with plenty of room to feel comfortable. As is the norm these days, it’s Advance Reservations Only, $20 per seat. Official proof of vaccination is required, but masks are optional, at your own discretion. You’re welcome to bring a table-ready dish, snack, or drink to share. And there will be a lovely song circle afterwards, so bring your guitars.

Scottie Breadman and Carl Sealove will be backing me up on percussion and bass, respectively. And there may be some other surprises as well. Here’s how to reserve your place:

Now I said there were TWO firsts: The “first” of the first shows is this weekend at the fabulous and talented Patty Silversher’s place. I’m sharing the bill with my brilliant singer/songwriter/playwright friend (and former bandmate) Amy Engelhardt, this Sunday night. However, this show is more socially-distanced than the one I did for her in 2018, so it sold out as soon as Patty notified her mailing list. But I’m looking forward to seeing those who scored tickets. Everyone else, please come see me at Coddy’s on 9/25.

We (my fabulous wife and showmate Danelle Stockdale and me) just did Safe @Home #73! We even kept the show going during our month-long cross-country trip. Spend an hour with us 5:30pm Tuesdays (Pacific Time) on my Facebook music page. This page is a public page – you don’t need to be a member of Facebook to watch (only to comment).

We really love hearing from all of you, and having you join us every Tuesday. So if you’re in Southern California, please come to the Sept. 25th show. At the show, I may see if Danelle can take a moment to talk about the great work she did this month with PILAglobal, teaching refugee children from the camps in Tijuana, Mexico. A lot of our loyal viewers contributed to her cause, financed her volunteer work there and helped bring the joy of play and learning to some very stressed out children. We are both so grateful for your kindness.

Much love,
